1. an accumulation in aqueous objects (water reservoirs, lakes, ponds) of alluviums and precipitations, entering them with asurface sink or during abrasion of beaches, atrophy of aquatic flora and fauna. S. carries to a lessening of a net volume of water reservoirs, decrease of their exploitation indexes and, consequently, to flooding.
