1. accumulation of a substance (as a rule, a persistent chemical or heavy metal) in the tissue of a plant or animal, mainly in result of getting water or nutrition in; it takes a shorter period of time than this plant or animal can excrete it, and it causes a steady raising level of contamination of organism during its lifetime.
